Responsibilities
Assist patients with frame and lens selection based on prescription, lifestyle needs, and budget
Educate patients on lens options including progressive lenses, anti-reflective coatings, photochromic lenses, blue light options, and specialty lenses
Accurately interpret and process eyeglass prescriptions
Perform precise measurements including PD, segment height, OC height, and fitting adjustments
Place eyewear orders, verify accuracy, and follow up with labs/vendors as needed
Troubleshoot eyewear issues and provide adjustments, repairs, and patient education at dispensing
Maintain a clean, organized optical area and assist with merchandising and frame board presentation
Support clinic flow by working closely with doctors, technicians, and front desk staff
Handle insurance and vision plan benefits as applicable
Ensure patient satisfaction by delivering excellent customer service and resolving concerns professionally
Maintain accurate documentation in the patient’s chart and optical system
Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous optical experience strongly preferred (private practice or retail optical)
Comfortable working with multiple patients and tasks throughout the day
Strong communication skills with the ability to educate patients in a clear and friendly way
Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
Detail-oriented with strong organization and follow-through
Ability to handle patient concerns with empathy and professionalism
Basic computer skills and comfort learning EHR/optical software
